Foo - Help quick! Bike just a wee bit on a cleat missing a screw?

Argh. One of the screws is missing from my Speedplays. There are still 3 other screws on it (it's a square configuration and missing the corner) I need to be somewhere soon and I would much rather ride my bike. Is this going to be a seriously bad idea?

The cleats are horrendously beat up anyway and I was fishing for an excuse to replace them. I think I will replace them today. I just need to bike a few miles uphill on them.

Is this a terrible idea? Please let me know, in like 10 minutes or less!

i would check tightness of the others and go for it. that is just me though. and do not have a hammerfest.

If it turns out bad we really must have pics for educational purposes!:D

Please don't ride with equipment not up to snuff. You could get badly hurt and then we would all feel rather badly. So fix the darn things and then go riding.;)

Do you have platform pedals? I would just suck it up and go back to basics.

I would probably take the cleat off and ride without it if it's a short trip. My foot may not be secure on the pedal (so I wouldn't stand up) but at least I wouldn't get trapped on the bike if a truck starts to run over it and I can't release..

dcut tape that foot to the pedal and just unclip with the shoe that has all the cleat screws.

I ride on clipless all the time using regular non cleated shoes. It helps if you use pedals that are fairly large-- something like eggbeaters could be uncomfortable.

I've also ridden plenty with cleats missing a screw-- the big problem is if they rotate and it's hard to get out because the cleat rotates instead of unclipping.

You probably won't die (at least not from riding with a missing screw), but don't blame me if you do.
