How many of us would like to see a new sub-forum added that would discuss Training and more specifically training with power?
Why not just find the wattage list/forum that already exists (used to be a topica list now I think its yahoo). People are actual experts there as opposed to this forums...entertaining inadequacies...

Why not have both. I for one would like to discuss the subject with others that I sort of know from being on BF.

whats the link to the wattage forum?
I agree with garysol. It would be nice to have both.

FWIW, some of the same experts hang in both the Cyclingforums wattage and the Google wattage forums, but more in the Google wattage forums. Also, there are folks from here, at BF, who hang there as well. These folks would help facilitate the transferance of information to BF if BF were to have it's own wattage sub-forum.
Having said that, though, I don't think Coggan et al will be hanging in BF any time soon.

Go to the link and look. You don't need an account to read it. Just scroll past all of the garbage at the top of each page.
EDIT: LOL! Look like too many connections swamped out the site.

Agreed :)
i like the racing forum.
as most of you who have been here for awhile, i generally behave on this specific forum.
i do grow weary of verbose race reports with wattage charts that illustrate heroic deeds, but i'd rather be bored with the meaningless (to me) details than have no posts at all.
therefore, i would prefer to NOT have a bikeforums.net/cottage_of_wattage.hml forum.

here's another suggestion: we create a doping forum for the trolls, and make people who want to come to road bike racing take an IQ test to qualify to post?

isnt that why the tour de france forum was created?

I wouldnt think a wattage subforum would take away from race reports and what not. I think it would just move a lot of the threads that are basically all about wattage training.

I am not sure why a "training' forum would have anything to do with race reports. I imagine a "Training with Power" forum to be full of things such as different interval ideas, helping each other to read graphs better, maybe help with trouble shooting our different power meters and so on.
As the posts above state, www.cyclingforums.com is the place to go about power.
Lots of power based dweebs over there, including his highness, Andy Coggan.
I used to hang out over there to talk training, but all the numbers got to be too much.
What happened to being a bike racer?
Too many yuppies infiltrating the sport.
Just looked what happened to Triathlon...

Don't you have to be some kind of a moron if, once you get the idea of what an interval is, you need help figuring out different intervals?
Reminds of me of the swim sets the masters put up at the pool, becuase folks who have swam for years can't figure out a decent workout.

I'd say you have to be some kind of moron to believe that we know all there is to know about how riders as a group and as individuals respond to various training stimulii. For example, the recent work on efficacy of VO2max intervals with and without preloading at threshold.

I don't think there's anywhere near enough threads to support a forum. Remember all the race type threads would still be here, even if power charts would be involved.

I wanted to vote for option 1 and 3. I think it would be at least a good idea to have a sticky about getting started with a power meter.

I totally agree about a sticky, perhaps in the racing forum. I think if it takes off, then you can consider creating a separate sub-forum.

Uh huh, ride hard [how hard?, how long?], slow down [how slow?, how long?], repeat [how many times?]. Now we can both be amused, but only one of us will be well trained.

Don't you have a look 585 or summtin' blingy like that? I imagine my 500 dollar Blue frame built with cobbled together DA bits from ebay complete with power meter was substantially less.
Back on topic though, I just check google's wattage forum and cyclingforums as coggan et.al. post there.

It's the constant "My TSS was in tune with my TTY and my FTP was well over my AT&T" that bugs me.

Training and nutrition has become primarily a nutrition forum. Very little real training substance there and what is there is hard to find between the how to lose weight threads and the .......how to lose weight threads....

i don't frequent that forum, so what do you think my answer is?
Y'know, if the majority of guys would prefer that race reports not contain power data I would be happy to exclude it from my already-pretty-boring reports. I, on the other had, enjoy having some quantifiable data to go along with the reports I read from others.
My vote is to leave things the way they are. The racing forum gets posts from lots of guys whose posts I like to read, including those who don't train with a power meter.

I like the power data stats; but the graphs are pretty worthless if they don't at least zoom and/or highlight an interesting section.

Race reports written eloquently are much more enjoyable to read than data - that being said, I'd love to have Coggan come here and start posting. But when it gets pedantic, you get myopic about your numbers and forget about the essence of racing and bike-training.
