The ones around here I usually go to consists of: tom thumb, central market, whole foods, united's market street, and some small little health food shops. Out of all of those I think Central market has to be the best. Whole foods is nice because I don't have to worry about buying junk, but it can be expensive. Traditional one's are great for quite a bit of original things. The market street ones..well the one in Colleyville, has so many expired products. I ate horizon yogurt and halfway through it I notice it expired in early march..and the one in the fridge said may 4. One time at the store this lady was returnbing something she got this month cause it expired in December. Another thing about central market-I know they have quite a few up in DFW- is the 5.49 sandwich station..can't beat that. Even the layout at those new artisan stores are cool, rather than those florescant lights/white tiles and all. Yep a discussion about grocery stores..
HEB's Central Markets are great, but I never go there anymore as I always end up spending way too much. :D The regular HEBs are my favorite otherwise.

Central Market is the key to healthy living. For a year now I have been trying not to eat any "Factory Food" which I define as anything that has been processed and assembled at a factory. At a regular grocery store the majority of the food sold is factory food. Central Market is like a regular grocery store with all the middle aisles removed. You can get bread made fresh without chemical additives, roasted turkey breast made in house, produce that is actually from Texas farms (and stuff shipped from abroad). Factory Food kills period. I like Whole Foods. One thing I like about them (not previously mentioned) is that they dont pressure you into getting one of those grocery store shopper cards. I hate those.

Market Street gets my vote!!! I live 5 minutes from the one in McKinney. That is the only store I use for groceries. They have never let me down.

For quick stuff: UrbanMarket
For cheap basics or when we're low on cash: WalMart Neighborhood Store (Central Expressway @ Lemmon Ave)
For good food: Whole Foods
For basics when we're not low on cash: Kroger (Mockingbird @ Greenville Ave)

My wife and I do Hong Kong Market at Walnut and Audelia. Can't beat the produce section for variety. Now that I have a regular job, we can do Whole Foods more often. I've never been to Market Street (googling them).

I biked to my local Kroger tonight... that's where I shop for most stuff, but I like to hit Whole Foods from time to time.
I find Tom Thumb to have nice stores, but are more expensive than Kroger.
