Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

i was on a family vacation last week and didn't bike at all. we went to Sandpiper, ClubMed in Port St Lucie, FL and had the pleasure of playing tennis, water sking, tubing, sailing, swimming, step class, bodypump class, etc.-not no biking.

after every layoff it seems as though i forget how to pedal circles and seem really sluggish. it takes many miles before i've got my stroke down again.

my question: does anyone else lose (not necessarily fitness) but lose their pedal stroke? the first 30-40 miles it feels as if i am on a bike for the first time.

I had a hard time after a rain/ illness induced lay off. I did 33 miles today, and I feel fairly good. I finally have been able to ride again for a full week. I am starting to feel pretty good again.

I usually don't have any problems after a break, like they say, "It's like riding a bike"
