Northern California - Yosemite Hikes

I and my friend are going to Yosemite this Monday, can anyone recommend good one day hikes? We already hiked Half Dome, Panorama trail (goes through glacier point), and up that trail that leads to the top of the main waterfall.

Try the other side of the valley, the Glacier Point Tail that goes to... Glacier Point.

Or, if Tioga Pass is open, drive to Tuolumne Meadows and hike to Cathedral Lakes. The two lakes are beautiful especially the upper one.

I didn't know there was a trail there, other than to take the Yosemite Falls trail to the top, then cut through the forest at the top.

If you liked Half Dome, another similar trail is Clouds Rest. The John Muir Trail from Yosemite Valley to Tuolumne Meadows is also a classic.

My wife and I hiked from the Happy Isles trailhead up to the top of Cloud's Rest and back in one day...if you try that...leave really early and carry lights...

What is the milage? Also do you have the link to the map? All I could find is from Tenaya lake which I can't even find on a map. :(

+1 to Cloud's Rest. I'm not sure where the Happy Isles trailhead it but it's doable from the Valley Floor too.
From what I remember, it's 3 miles longer than the hike to Half-Dome and 2000 ft higher elevation gain than Half-Dome (from the Valley Floor). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud%27s_Rest

yep, basically the Happy Isles trailhead is where you start on the way to Half Dome. Once you get close there is a sign that directs you toward Cloud's Rest. Seems like it was 22 miles roundtrip.

Well it was a fun weekend. Saturday a 69miler with fellow BFers, Sunday couple hour ride (35miles), followed by some drinking. :D On Monday I and my friend hit Yosemite. It became apparent really fast that he was in worse shape then last year. Seems like each year he is getting more and more out of shape. :( I took all his water and carried it for the rest of the hike. We stopped about 2 miles short of the Clouds Rest. My friend was almost dying, and just couldn't go any further. Hopefully this will provide him motivation to get back in to shape. He was the person who got me in to cycling.

On a side note those hydro packs they sell in Costco are great! Water capacity is great, you can put a bunch of stuff inside and thanks to the net (which is intended for cycling helmets) you can carry even more stuff outside. Perfect for a day hikes.

Last time I half-dome, I used a hydration backpack (Deuter) filled with water and two 1 liter Nalgene bottle filled with Accelerade. It was a lot of liquid weight to carry up but I ended up using all of it. I suppose a filtration pump would be lighter but they're expensive!
