Hahhhahaha so much fun. Freeride and downhill, got out there an hour or so early, took a few runs and whatever else. After a little while we took the chair back up and rode down to the freeride course, my friend and I were the first ones there and the guy said we need experts first, then intermediate, and then beginnner. I sucked it up and was the first racer to go. Started from a nastar shack so its straight down, onto a skinny jump thats about 8 foot long and 4 inches wide and it drops about 3-4 feet at the end (cleaned that), popped into the woods, cleaned everything including everything I have never done (I actually have never ridden the course before so it was all new on a bike). Popped out of the woods via a 4 foot tall drop from skinny. Hit a berm, pedaled to get speed for the step up from tiny dirt jump to planked section, turned to hit another skinny jump (smaller than the first one) rode over a log into some sand, rode over another log, hit 2 plank table sections, first one is ride down second it drop off, hit some steps at full speed, rode a skinny and at the VERY END I somehow nose dived and flipped over the bars.....jumped up quickly and tried to roll my bike.....no go. Looked down and saw that my rotor was bent...NOOO, ran to the inish line which is only a short distance away passed a teeter.
Watched for awhile, crash after crash after crash....my time held up pretty well until a few people had perfect runs. Lots of people crashed where I did for some reason, its really weird.
Time to fix bike>>
Get an allen wrench to loosen my axle, tried one side and it was stripped.....tried the other side and it was STRIPPED!! Somebody must have f**ked with my bike because I didnt strip those out. What can I do now....I could take my brake off but I didnt think about that so I drove to the bikeshop and got a huge pair of bolt cutters, drove back to the ski hill and cut the rotor off...MUHAHHA.
Rotor is off, now I can take the brake off! Went to take my ODI off, stripped ont of the heads. **** what else can go wrong??? Had to race downhill next so I taped my caliper onto my frame, and still did really good.
Here she is:D

Had to race the DH with rear brake, and I beat tons of people including most everybody I knew.

Congrats...sounds like a wicked course. I have a feeling freeride races will become more normal as freeriding gets more and more exposure...
8 ft 4inch skinny..to a 4 ft drop...I am impressed Klein :)

It was really nothing even though I had never really seen the whole top of the course. There was one little huck in the woods that I wasnt expecting to have to really get on the brakes after but I didnt crash. There was a roll down off of a huge rock but I came in too hot to do it so I had to ride all the way around it which sucked. A bunch of people including myself were thinking about dropping off the rock, but I dont think anybody did it. Instead of trying to describe the whole thing, I will go out and get pics with my old digicam (or when my damn new digital camera comes in). Its really a sweet course.

Yes, especially when you live here. I walked the freeride course a week or so before but didnt make it to the top (wasnt much up there anyway except that skinny huck). Rode the DH the night before (it had been changed since last year).

Nooooo! don't touch the rotor with your hands! You'll contaminate it. :D
I like the caliper duck taped to the frame, nice touch.

I guarantee you would either come in last or not even finish. http://www.stupid-boy.com/smilies/contrib/Bizkit/sweat.gif

Awesome I just got the results of DH and FR.
Placed 9th in downhill with only a rear brake. WOO
5th in freeride, damn if only I wouldent have crashed I would have got top 3!:D 4th place was only beat me by a few tenths of a second, 3rd by about 8 seconds. http://www.superiorbikefest.com/bike_web_results.html#dcrs

Curious did they setup the course with multiple lines. The easiest line being the slowest and the hardest line making the fastest time or was this like a dh course with freeride stunts?
i meant to ask earlier :)
BTW congrats those are some great placings :)

I'll try to describe the whole course.
-Out of the gate there was that skinny jump or a ride around.
-Next section was a plank section or ride around.
-Small plank drop or ride around
-A few drops or ride arounds here and there
-Turn with a little plank drop or a sort of ride around
-Big rock roll down, small huck next to that or a ride around it all
-Big huck, medium huck, or ride around both
-Board up to a foot or so wide section with a 4-5 foot drop or big ride around loop to come out of the woods.
-Bank turn into a dirt jump stepup onto a flat plank section or ride around
-Another skinny jump or ride around
-2 Bridges with a drop after one (cant remember a ride around or not)
-3 Step things that I flew down or ride around
-Bunch of boards zig zagging a foot in the air until you hit ground
-Teeter
-Finish
Heres what I did.
Hit the first skinny bridge with perfect form
Rode the plank section
Missed the little plank drop because I was going too fast
Missed the big rock roll down because I was going way too fast (had to ride around everything, said the F word a few times)
Hit the big huck
Did the 5 footer out of the woods
Cleaned the stepup with perfect form
Hit the next skinny jump again perfect
Bridges were easy
Flew down the step things
Fast down the zig zagging boards
CRASH, tried to move bike for a few seconds and it wouldent move looked down at the rotor and it was bent, people started yelling RUN so I did.
And again i'm waiting for my new digital camera to come in, and I will get wicked videos and pictures of us riding.
The ride arounds werent slower in alot of places which made a few people mad.
Dont imagine this course being really difficult, I dont want you to be dissappointed when I do get footage of it lol:D

I don't care how hard it is (well I suppose REALLY hard stuff is pretty cool too). That course sounds like fun...nice work :)
You ever been to the shore?
