Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, the weather broke for a little this morning so I put my 265lbs on a bike for the first ride in probably 3 years.

I was able to get out for about a little more than an hour. Went about 8-10 miles on a (mostly flat) trail that runs by the train tracks. Stopped a couple times to snap some photos. I instantly re-discovered why I always loved to ride when I was younger. It felt awfully good and I was pleasantly surprised both I and my crappy bike were able to make it without breaking down. lol

I have already broken the news to the wife that if I stay interested I will have to have to get a better bike again. One that actually fits me would be nice. I used to own a Specialized. I wonder if they still make those... :)

I have also bee researching riding trails around here.

And, since I am also a shutterbug, I have to post a couple of photos...

congrats and welcome to the group. I took my first ride after a pretty good knee injury last night. Short 30 mins and 8 miles but it felt great after a three week layoff. Will be going out again tonight and will try and do and hour tonight in between rain drops.

Welcome, Stu! Excellent first ride!

Nice pics as well.;)

By the way, you might want to start a cycling blog if you have the time. The more visibility we Clyde's have on the net, the more CLyde's will think about riding.:D

Thanks!

When I was out today, I saw 3 other cyclers on the same trail - one zipped by me and the other 2 were going the opposite direction. From my quick sampling of 4 of us, Clydes are riding well in southern Illinois!

A few minutes after I posted that I went googling and found the Specialized site. Already I am interested in a Hardrock. lol

Looks like MTN bikes have gotten a little more aggressive in the last 18 or so years. I don't even remember the old Stump Jumpers looking as aggressive as the entry Hardrock does now. Makes me wonder if I need what I see called a 'Comfort' MTN Bike.
