As i was taking pictures for this post (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=4516728&postcount=10), i realized that there's some cracking going on at the back of my saddle.
Now granted-- i know a saddle's not going to be in great condition forever, but seeing as the below saddle is on my "weather beater" (a fixed gear i built up for riding in wack weather, ie rain, day after rain, snowy conditions, etc), a bike i won't be riding all that often, i was hoping i could keep the saddle in better condition than normally expected. It's also kinda interesting looking, and is really the only fun/atypical aspect of the bike (nishiki road conversion with sawed off risers, run of the mill nitto stem, bobo hubs on sun m13II, etc), so i was hoping to keep it looking crispy for as long as possible.
Does anyone have any advice for keeping something like this in as good condition as possible? My girlfriend (the artist) recommends leather varnish, which i may explore-- but i figured i'd ask other riders first.

But in my head, all i see is the Grand Canyon.
