Is there anyway to stop this from happening or are there any wheels that are extremely hard or impossible to bend. I heard about some that if you bend them you can just stick them in the freezer and they will unbend themselves, but dont know how true this is and dont know the name of them.

true them. on second thoughts take them to your bike shop to get trued.

and if all else fails and you are still bending rims and weight is not an issue go buy some stupid triple walled alex huck rims. and if weight is and issue buy ody 7KA's. They are pretty tough rims. and it is not your wheel that is bent it is your rim.

Agreeage.

Most stock wheels on bikes are pretty weak and shoddy. If you keep having trouble, invest in an Odyssey wheelset, they are cheap and pretty strong.

Get good spokes and a decent rim and you won't bend it.

+1 AND proper spoke tension...

The spoke tension is implied in the having good spokes part.

Wasn't just any mags. It was with the old GT 3 spoke ones.

No, it was the classic Skyway Tuff wheel mags. And ACS Z-Rims.
And no, freezing them does nothing.

Odyssey and Sun rims for the win! I hear those Araya Super 7X's were really good as well, my buddy has a set on his old Robinson race bike.

I have a Robinson. It is a great bike for freestyle also, just not too strong.
As for the sun rims, i have the city lites and i had them trued once and they are pretty straight.

Yeah they were great bikes, but not really for anything aside from the racetrack and maybe some light trails.

late reply...sorry
i responded to the 'good spokes' part because i know people that tried to build their own wheels and failed...and then blamed the components they bought...THAT'S why I commented...it's not always good enough to purchase quality parts, you have to know how to use them!

That's quite alright and quite true.
