Hey Everyone:

I just wanted to get an idea of how often you guys clean and lube your bikes...

After every ride? Every 20km/50km/100km?

What general maintenance should be done once in a while? Lubing the chain etc?

I've ridden about 6 hours on my new bike and am wondering whats the best maintenance to be done...

Thanks!

It depends on what I've ridden through and how dirty the bike is. My frame and fork as well as many components are carbon fibre so cleaning and inspecting on a regular basis is crucial... especially if I've taken a crash. I lube after almost every ride. I clean my chain thoroughly (degreased and relubed) if it's especially dirty or after every other ride... same goes for the entire drivetrain. Being able to remove the chain easily (SRAM) helps a lot.

i usually lube up the drivetrain once a month depending on use. also after a real muddy, wet ride too. dont want that h20 and crud to stay on there too long

Unless I hit a particularly muddy ride, I plan on cleaning and lubing the chain after every ride, and the drivetrain I'll do every three rides.
