General Cycling Discussion - Rain ...

I can't believe that we finally have rain. After all, we did have two-and-a-half nice days in a row :rolleyes: . We've had rain almost every day for that past 2 months and I have just about had eough of it.

I gues you just have to suck it up and ride in the rain, and clean up afterwards. Do you ride in the rain? Do you have a rain bike?

I'm just griping. It's been raining more here than it does in Seattle.
Haven't had much seat time this year. I will be venturing out into the rain though. No, I don't have a rain bike. :(

If you want to predict a nice day, seems as though Mondays are best bet, certainly not a weekend day. I see for Ct showers already predicted for next Saturday.

We have a dry week ahead in the weather forecast. Hallelujah! No rain is predicted until a week from Monday. I am so glad. I got caught twice in the rain last week. One was a sprinkle, no big deal. The other was a torrential downpour. I was about a half-mile from the entrance to an 800 foot long tunnel on the bike trail, so, I kicked it in and made it before I got any serious water on the body. I don't mind a little water, but I hate it when my shoes fill up, and my feet are about 3 inches long when I get back to the trail head. Best -

I have an easier solution for you............just move out here...

I feel your pain, Im in MA too and ive only been able to go out ONCE in the past damn month. the one time i did get out, the place i went to was a damn quagmire. most trails were buried in 4-5" of thick goopey mud. stupid rain

Untill wind blows the moisture clouds towards MA, the rain is not going to stop :D. Noone can predict weather.

Dude, we had two years without rain - believe me, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Just imagine choking in a dust storm on your way home from work. How about finding that all those places where you would normally refill your water bottles on a blazing hot day have run dry. What about having that spanky ride totally cut off because of bushfires...

If you ride in the rain you get wet. So what? It will dry eventually. Personally I'll be happy to ride in rain (even hail) perpetually if it ensures I never have to see another drought again.

I live in MA and ride anyway, after all you get wet when you take a shower, and you only get so wet. just get out and get used to it, it's not going to stop. mother nature must be upset with us and I for one am not going to stop riding because of a little water.

Well, I never said I wasn't riding because of the rain. I am just sick of the rain.

Me, too.....now for the new killer cycling accesory....the Snorkel. Oh well, the sun has come out for a couple hours, and I'm not working today. "Darling Mother, Dearest Father, kindly disregard this letter......"

INSANE!!! If it doesn't rain for two weeks around here people get worried. Two months without more than a sprinkle or two is called a drought, and the government starts shutting down water to the farmers.

That's normally the case here, too. Put it this way, up until the current drought, the lowest our water supply had ever been was 56.1% full. At one stage in January of this year, it dropped to 28%. Over those two years we did have the occasional shower and patches of drizzle. However, these do not count to someone who has become accustomed to tropical downpours.

When the rains finally came in February, there were some areas that actually flooded - this wasn't enough to make the drought even flinch, never mind breaking the thing.

Okay .. the rain appears to have finally stopped. Instead of cold and rainy, we are now 90+ degrees and humid. I'm on vacation now so hopefully, it will stay this way while I'm at the ocean. Time to get naked and sunny. :D
