Hello Everyone,
As most of you know, I have only been riding for bout 3 months or so. I have seen some rather awe inspiring junk collections for sale in the For Sale forum. I took note yesterday that my spare part/ junk collection is starting to grow just a little bit.

I have two junk seat bags, both are good but small, I also have a very nice Ritchie handlebar stem. I had to replace it with an adjustable one so that I could raise the handlebars just enough to rub blisters on my palms after a 33 mile ride. Neat trick, huh?

That makes 3 pieces of junk, in 3 months. The Ritchie stem looks brand new, is that the way these things end up? I had to quickly hide it when my wife was getting into my truck. She doesn't know much about bikes, but she is a great detective when it comes to sniffing out the money trail. i.e. "How much did you pay for this bike thing?" ans. "Nothing dear, it came with the bike and I took it off." reply. "Yeah right, and what about that receipt I found in the floor behind your desk for a speedometer, did that come on the bike, too?" This happens a lot at my house.

What will the collection look like in a year? In a few years? When will I have a complete extra bike laying around? I am adding a set of pedals to my collection in a week or two, when I decided to finally go clipless.

This happens with computers too. I call them "computer spores." :)

My junk collection seems to have stabilized at a tolerable level, partly because I don't really have much money to spend on bicycles.

Ha, I have a box full of stuff. A new Velo seat that came off my new bike, an extra stem, 2 seat posts, a new set of Maxxis MOFO tires I plan to put on soon, an old Camelbak, a seat bag, extra mini pump, lots of hex head bolts, bike chain/lock that I rarely use, extra tubes, platform pedals, half a bottle of Slime, lubes, and a bag full of my tools. I kind of enjoy having bike stuff around even if its stuff I might not use again. I had an extra fork but I sold it on ebay.
