Saturday and Sunday were not good riding days due to Rain. 3" fell yesterday although the temperature was not bad. Today was a Bank holiday so out today to get a few hills in Rain that was falling spasmodically but the temp had dropped to around 40F so it was on with the Knickers (Long bib Shorts that cover the knees), the thin fleece and the Goretex. Idea was to get a bit of hill training in but first stop was down to the coast and my favourite cafe for a coffee. I know I should have had Pie but the chocolate Gateaux had a big label on it that said "I Taste as good as I look". The label was right so see the attachment as to why the pie did not stand a chance.

Idea was to take the 15% 1 mile hill and do it 3 times today. First trip up and I was fine, second made me realise I should have had pie so before the third trip I stopped at the bottom and took a pic. The road does not seem that steep- but look at the wall on the right to get a better impression. The top of the wall is horizontal and not slanted. That 3rd trip up and I was not going for a 4th. Stopped at the top and the pic show how high I have climbed and this hill starts just above sea level

On the way back and called into a bike shop to see if they had some decent gloves as I was getting a bit of Palm pain. Tried on the Ultra expensive Specialised and they did not feel right. Then I tried Pearl Izumi and they felt good, and were half the price. Then it was a long slog back up the MUP but that 10 mile trip home felt tough. That chocaolate had definitely slowed mr down- or was it something else. Got home and checked the tyres- They felt hard enough but put the gauge on and only 70 PSI in them. I normally run at 110 so perhaps I should not blame the chocolate. I'll have to go back next week and try it again

Edit- The chocolate was healthy food aswell as The Cacao bean is a fruit and it had a segment of orange on the top. Same with the Thick Double cream in the centre as that is so full of calories- I had to work hard to work them off- so upping my effort on the Hills. I did buy the Pearl Izumi gloves and the palm pain went on the short ride home. Only 26 miles today but a worthwhile 26,I hope

Once again, Stapfam, you get in way over your head and then you come whining to us about it.

I saw the close-up of Le Chocolate Cake-o and you seriously want anyone on the planet to feel sorry for you for having to eat it? And the coffee? That's not something you would have picked up at Chez Micke d's, either.

I do feel sorry for you about the rain and the weather. I really feel sorry for you having to wear knickers at the end of May.

But it's not our problem. You'll make do. What do they teach you at Marine school, anyway?

Unfortunately- I finished up in the Boxing team and as anyone knows- if you are in a corps team of any sort- You are treated like gods. So give the respect That is due. Never became Navy champion Due to broken nose in the semi final- which I did win by the way. Still If you want to scive and have an easy time in the Forces- Become a Corps Champion and it is chocolate cake and Steaks all the way.

Unfortunatley the other team I was in was the rugby team. 126lbs up against 220lbs in tackles and I learnt to run very fast .

Not certain but I think it was :p :p when he got his new bike that we still haven't had pics of yet. Plus the fact he doesn't put smilies in his text so we can't tell whether his Postings are Tongue in cheek  or he really is an unhappy soul::( :( :(

Stapfam -- I'm sure it's not the chocolate that slowed you down . . . it must be that slice of orange on top ;)

PS - Good choice with the Pearl Izumi gloves!

:) :) In my perverse way it's a sign of repsect, kinda like making fun of someone because either they knows you love them, or because they live in San Diego/England/Australia and you know they won't track you down and beat the snot out of you :) :)

If you notice, I never pester freeranger because he knows exactly where I live and he's bigger than me

And then there's jealousy. To be able to ride one's bike, then hop off and consume the delicatables so pictured above ::sigh::

Don't believe it! TWL is bigger than me (and I'm the non-violent type anyway!). Maybe because I was wondering how aluminum (Reno) would fare vs carbon (Buenos Aires) in a demolition derby. Actually, the only reason he isn't mean to me is I'm the one who carries the patch kit & CO2 when riding!! But actually, though I hate to admit it, TWL is a good hearted soul, just got to get to know when he serious or not (is he ever really serious?). He has seem to be acting strange since acquiring the Buenos Aires though, does carbon give off dangerous fumes if not fully cured??
