stopping auto subscription

I'm new to this forum, but not to forums in general. I can't seem to find the toggle in my UCP to toggle off auto subscription to threads I reply to. The emails are unwanted in my mailbox. Is it possible to stop the auto subscriptions and the auto emails that go along with them?

In the User Control Panel, click on Edit Options.
Scroll (or look) down to Messaging and Notifications.
The second box within that area is Default Thread Subscription Mode.
There's a drop-down window with subscription options. Select Do Not Subscribe.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Save Changes.
