It was getting nearer to the finish (actually I really dont even remember) but I think there was only a few miles left. The people in front of my dropped me, and i got to this turn and saw some orange trail markings on my right and dust from riders on my left. I went left. LOTS OF UPHILL, and then it flattened out a bit. I then see riders coming my way - WHAT THE HELL?? Dude they told us that we were going the wrong way! Awww ****!!!! We went back to where we turned left and I dont even remember where we went but it was wrong again. This time there was a group of people and we were all trudging through muck and streams and trees. Then finally somebody says this cant be the right way. We had already been pretty far and there was a really long steep hill right next to us. We had to climb the hill on foot, and I was wearing my 2 sizes too small sidi shoes...OUCH! At the top we saw riders going by, one including the owner of the shop I work at. I dont know how much time I lost, but I am guesing over 10 minutes.
Turns out that some high school kids went and camped where all the flags and stuff were (somebody said that they still saw a fire burning around there).

Scums! :crash: I know how that feels, from back when we had a NORBA National at Mt. Spokane. The lead motorcycle took the Sport-class leaders via the Beginner route :irritated and when I took the correct route, the course marshal said we had gone the wrong way (which involves a big climb & descent over a hill that the Beginner class just goes around the base of).
Sorry to hear that they didn't have their act together, that stinks. How did your ride go, though? Did you ride well?

It was one of the only races that I have actually been able to keep up with people and pass some. I guess its because i havent been REALLY lazy this year. I felt really good almost the whole way until the wrong turns and at the end when my neck started to hurt pretty bad. I only got off my bike a few times. It was a good race.:D
Oh yea did I mention that it is 85 degrees here today? WHEW its hot.
Oh yea , and I hadn't used my camelback even once this year before the race, so I washed it out last night. I thought the water was going to be fine, but it tasted really weird (kind of soapy but it wasnt bad enough to not drink:D)

A long time ago, I bleached my water bottles before a race and evidently didn't get all the bleach out. Yuck! I still drank it though. However, it wasn't as bad as the time I hadn't bother to clean out my bottles... I won't gross you out with the details of that outcome.

I know how you feel when i comes to races where the course in not marked well. My last race at Mt,Hood was kinda like that. there was this "Y" in the trail and the turn marker (no ropes) was turned backwards and not ever showing the little red arrow. so a buch of us got confuzed on what way to go becuase boths trails where worn in fairly well. so we started to go on "the right trail" and started to have second thoughts so three of os surned around and went up the other trail for about 100 feet or so till we realized this was not the right one. so we went bacl around to the other one :S a lot of people where a little pissed from that.
