on the electronic signature pads i usually put a :) instead of my signature. sometimes i'll sign the name of a somewhat famous sports figure that the general public (cashier) probably doesn't know. charles oakley, bob kennedy, saul raisin, brandon inge, bobby hurley, etc.

Might as well. Those things are too slow to keep up with a signature anyway. I have awful handwriting, and you'd be hard pressed to guess my name from my signature, but those things make it even worse.
