I checked www.lmb.org (http://www.lmb.org/pages/Events/PosterCal/June_2007.htm) and it says that the ride starts at Cereal City USA, which is now closed. It seems like a "downer" to start a ride in front of an defunct amusement park, I think.
Has anybody in the Battle Creek area has participated in or have any background on this ride? I've reached a bunch of dead ends with my internet search. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Patrick

UPDATE: I received an e-mail from the event coordinator. It will start at Cereal City USA as they have received permission from Kellogg's to use that site. In case anybody wondered...

For posterity's sake...
I still wasn't sold on the idea of starting a ride from a closed tourist attraction but I was assured that would be the starting place. Unfortunately, the camera was packed in the trunk or else I would have snapped a few photos of our downtown adventure getting to Cereal City USA. The only thing that kept popping in my head was, "How are we going to get out of downtown Battle Creek without getting squished?!"

We managed to arrive in one piece, registered quickly and then snapped a few pics of the park. It was nice to see such a beautiful green space smack dab in the middle of town.

Being unsure of the terrain around Battle Creek, we selected the 30 mile route. This turned out to be a good idea as the folks who parked next to us ride parts of the 60 mile route and said it gets hilly around Gull Lake. Next year, we're doing the long route for sure!
The first rest stop was at the 14-mile mark. It came after a series of 6% to 10% grades along North Ave. None of them terrible long and probably nothing for those folks who live in the mountains but they were good challenges for me and my wife. I wished I had my Edge 305 that weekend... As for the rest stop, it was pretty well stocked with fruit and juice and snacks. The school let us use the indoor bathrooms rather than porta-potties. I thought that was pretty nice of them.

This was a very quiet area and it was very easy to ride two abreast here. Even the early part of the return trip on Hutchinson Rd (seen below) was very pleasant.

The final challenges were on Waubascon and Limit Roads. I failed to take pictures on this stretch but Jen managed to get up to 36 mph coasting at one point! The route finished back on Michigan Ave on what I expected to be a very busy road by 12:00 on a Sunday but that was not the case. All in all, a very quiet ride with a few riders (80 or so registrants) on some surprisingly nice roads.
