Mountain Biking - Best freeride pedals?

So i need a new set of pedals, specifically, pedals that will never lose their grip on my foot. I have cut up my legs so many times on my crappy pedals, and slipped off so many times on drops, that its driving me insane. I have about 70 $, and need a reliable pair of platforms that will never slip, must be useable for freeride, downhill, and some xc. Thanks in advance!

Shinburgers suck, they have way too many pins/spikes/pyramids whatever you want to call em.

I'm running Crank Bros 50/50XX they run so smooth and look super dope. After you put the screw type pins in them they have tons of grip, but the stupid screws holding the plates on fell out a few times.

Also check out Azonic A-frames, DMR V12s, Odyssey Cielenckis, and Truvativ Holzfellers.

Sun Ringle' Zuzus are very grippy and pretty light too. They don't get much attention anymore but they are still one of the better lower-price-point platforms IMO.

+1 on the zuzus, if you're looking for a decent quality, affordable pedal. However my best recommendation to meet the OP's stated criteria (although slightly over the budget number) would be a pair of Five Ten Impacts.

I just bought the Kona pedal (40$ CAD model) and I think that they grip a lot and you can adjust the spike

There is a new shinburger out called the veggie burger. It's a hollowed out version that has big cutouts that actually make them grippier than before.

It's what I'm currently using. I think the major benefit is that the platform is HUGE, bigger than the tiogas I was using before and just a hair bigger than the 50/50s. The benefit is that you can muss up your foot position pretty bad in the air and still have a stable landing platform. Plus, after smacking them around rocks for a while, I can say that the 7000 series aluminum they use is stout: the spikes don't wear down or take damage easily and are much sturdier than the tiny steel pins in other pedals I've been using.

These puppies, along with a good flat bottom shoe, are the next best thing to clipping in. I ditched my ATACs for them even for XCish riding.

I actually just bought some DMR V12's from AEBike.com

I read that they're an excellent pedal. I bought em to replace my TruVativ's cause I found that they didn't provide ANY traction whatsoever when it was wet. My feet kept slipping on jumps and found out that...well, let's say women probably find biking a lot easier than we do :( They should be arriving pretty soon and I've seen great reviews.

I bought them for $56, and that is including shipping.

Oh, and someone told me to buy some shoes called "Five-Tens." I bought a pair ($95 for the Impact 2's) and they are seriously the MOST tractiony shoe I've ever worn. You'll probably see that almost all freeriders have them on when you go biking. They may be expensive but they're rugged and totally worth it. Grab a pair of those with some V12's and you should be set for a long time.
