Texas - N. Texas Summer Ride Rollcall

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Kyle - are you riding alone? If so, and if you want some buddies, let me know. We can meet up. My BF (that's biking friend) and I will both be there and can ride with you as long as our route is the same. It's just lots more fun having someone to talk to and get encouragement from. But, like Kevin said, if you've done 22 then you should be fine. The rest stops help as does the energy of riding with a bunch of people.
And FWIW, I've never gone 46 miles. It will be a new record for me. My goal is a metric century in the HHH.

Kyle- I would ride along as well. I am always up for riding with new friends, what part of the metroplex are you in?
Biking is a great sport. We can help turn the nervousness into confidence.

I live in waxahachie actually. I would love to meet up with some of you guys to have someone to ride with. I dont want to hold anyone up or anything though. Also I would do the 46 mile route, but I have to work later in the day so I am afraid that I would be pushing myself to much to survive my day at work. But lets figure out some way to meet up or something that could be fun.

I just read through the thread, I will sign up for the Waxahachie ride today, and see you guys on Saturday. I'll catch that Plano ride next week. Should we discuss where to meet?
Ok, I'm in for Waxahachie this weekend. 46mi for me, going to be bringing a friend of mine who will also be pushing his distance limits with that distance. If anyone wants to trade cellphone or such information send me a PM.
Is it just me or do we now have a finalist for the worst rally map competition?
Dayum! (http://www.cowcreekcountryclassic.com/07CowCreek%20map%20front.pdf)

But definitely not the winner. That would be this one (http://www.bicycletexas.com/fireant100kmap.htm).
Cuda, are you gonna update the list on the first page?

That ride goes through the town I grew up in and went to school at. Midlothian......fun, fun, fun. :o Looks like the ride that contiues on FM 663 will somewhat go past my old house. Kinda...you have to go in the community. We had 5 acres of land a big brick house.
First Post Updated. PM going out to all the guys doing Cow Creek 46mi. Let's try to meet up before hand. I've got one other rider coming with me so we'd have a group of 5 if we all want to do about the same pace.

Bump...got the PM. Anyone know a 'spot' at the HS where we could meet/park?

not sure of any spot inparticular, best bet is just to use cell phones most likely. Also Cuda I am only doing the 36 mile route on saturday.

Looks like that for the first 10 or 12 miles, the 36 and 46 mile rides are side by side. Not sure about start times.
Fixed. Everyone should have my cell. I'll be on the road early so feel free to give me a ring any time after 6:30 or so.

yeah we can at least start out together if you guys want to. Also I live like 5 minutes away from the school so if anyone wants my cell number just pm me for it. See you guys on saturday hopefully.

Everyone still going to Waxahachie? Even with the rain in the forecast? I am bringing a friend, just checking on you guys to be sure.
I'm in, rain or shine. I'm sick of this wet weather keeping me at home. I've got 1 open seat heading to Waxahachie from Dallas (Coit & Campbell). PM me if you want to meet me and head down in my truck. I've got a good rack in the back.

Sounds good, unless it is simply pouring rain (in sheets), I am there. I am also bringing a friend. See you there.

Count me as a late addition for Saturday. I'll do 46 miles. It's gonna be a nice showing for BF.

I will still be riding regardless of the rain... if it is raining bad enough I may shorten my route, but right now the plan is to stick with it. See you guys in the morning.
Anyone else in for Tour de Paris? I'm going to push for the 100k on this ride. Need to push myself to see what I'm in for at HHH.

I want to do it, but I will probably have to work, and it is my 22nd birthday that day. If I can get off that day for my birthday then I may just make this pain and suffering my birthday present to myself!
** bump **
Tour de Paris this weekend. See my thread regarding a seat open heading in that direction from Dallas if anyone wants to go with.

^^^^^^Bump^^^^ for Cuda.
Also, not sure if anyone is interested in riding in the Goatneck at the end of the month, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I'll probably be riding with a couple of guys.

as posted in Cuda's thread, I havent been getting in my miles due to a sudden plethora of work. I couldn't get any OT in late May or all of June and the damned rain kept me off the bike, now that the weather has cleared up I'm working all evening. I am riding a bit up t he Katy trail on my lunch breaks though and eating on the fly, but 1/2 hour 40 min rides arent cutting it.
It looks like I'm gonna have to scale back the plan for doing 100 in WF and just do the metric and enjoy my first HHH without the pressure of making the gate etc. After doing those 46 miles @Cowcreek I know I could will my way through a metric.
Thus ends my venting:)
Chris
I did the Tour D'Italia on my 29er. It rained, but it was a really nice ride. The list in the OP left out the Peach Pedal (last weekend) and the Tour de Goatneck (8 days away). I'll be at the Goatneck, either on my 29er again, or with my daughter on the tandem.

Not sure if it's legal to quote your own post (walks on thin ice), but anyone else for the Goatneck? If we have enough, some of us could ride together. I'll be doing the 100K with a couple of guys.
You know you want to.:p
I'm out for Goatneck. I tore up my quads something aweful on Monday going down 19 flights of stairs (fire alarm at the office - ended up being a false alarm). Don't ask me how an endurance athlete who can ride 60+ mi one day can screw up his legs for a week 2 days later going down stairs. But I did. And it hasn't been the first time going down a lot of stairs has done this to me.
*BUMP*
Cotton Patch and Bonham are 1 and 2 weeks out now. I'll have an empty seat headed east bound from my place near RBM Richardson for both rides. PM me if you want a lift!
