Advocacy & Safety - Laws to make things "safer for drivers"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It's cars vs. trucks on the PA turnpike, but it's an interesting new take on "sharing" the road:

Pa. Senator Wants Separate Laws For Truck Drivers On Turnpike (http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/news/13406437/detail.html)

Some quotes:
------------
"He wants truck drivers to be limited to the right lane, staying 5 mph under the speed limit."

"That would not be good," said driver Roy Sluk, of Rostraver. "You need to have everything the same. You can't have the four-wheelers going faster than you, because (that's) creating more people passing, and that's bad."
------------

The ironic thing here is that the idea is to make things safer by putting limits on the larger, heavier vehicles. I would love to see the outcry if similar limits were put on cars when on the same road with a cyclist.
