Road Bike Racing - no racing for me today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was supposed to do some 38 mile training race out in tortilla flat arizona today but the bike builder i am getting a new bike from didnt have it built yet! He offered to let me use his bike and I had a back up plan to rent a road bike from a shop near by but after a 5 hour flight and 20 degrees in temp difference its probably best that I dont race. Especially since Im still recovering anyway. Its still frustrating and I tend to obsess over situations like this.
Hopefully my bike will be completed by friday so I can get 3 decent days of climbing work done before I go back home to DC.
Ive already ate a huge crappy meal today and im going to vegas tomorrow until friday so I hope I dont ruin all the hard work ive done to get my weight down.
i kind of hate vacations like this. thank god i dont drink.

Correct.
You're whining Riskus. You know that if you were Pcad you'd borrow the frame builder's bike and RIDE it to Las Vegas. Then you wouldn't have to worry about all the food you want to eat there.
Yet another reason to be grateful you are NOT Pcad. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Maybe you'll win enough dough in Vegas to pay for the bike.
One more point: remember that 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas' stuff? They're talking about your hard earned MONEY.

Nothing beats a fine whine. I was schooled by Master whinemakers.

Pcad can teach you a thing or two, since he's clearly a connoisseur.
I wouldn't sweat a missed day too badly. Fitness is not gained or lost in a day.

the guy that made my current frame made me another out of cheaper tanger tubes that was initially going to be used as a commuter frame but instead im having it built out with ultegra and just keeping it out here to use for the few times i come out here each year.
the race would have been a nightmare. I would basically have picked the bike up and took it straight to the race. So i would be riding a bike i had never ridden or been fit to and it would be the first time i rode a bike with shimano components. it still would have been fun.
