Played a little hooky from school today (last week of class, can you blame me?), and went up to GMR again to take advantage of it still being car-less for another few days. Was halfway up the climb when I realized I had my video camera and my ultra-pod in the car (I had videotaped a therapy session with a couple for my sex therapy class/training), so I high-tailed it down and grabbed it, and went back up. Set it up on the road for a few still shots, then rigged it to the bike in a few different positions to get various vantage points. Didn't record much of the climb because it's pretty much the same thing, so I focused more on the descent.

Edited it to 3 minutes set to music - hope you enjoy it!

Sorry in advance if this is boring - it was my first attempt at a cycling-related video with spartan equipment/software.

 Nice! I love the music and the panning with the camera on your bike and out over the view - and the handle shots! :D

Nice!

Can you add speed, gearing, brake application meter overlays like in computer driving game replays? :D j/k

Kind of reminds me of Gran Turismo replays.

Nice work descending in the drops, but you gotta stop using those brakes son :roflmao:

That's good stuff. You realize we want a detailed explanation of your setup. :)

Nice work. Now I've got to ride the GMR. Bye the way, what sound track would have chosen for the long uphill grind?

I'd use the brakes less if I weren't glancing down at the screen seeing what the shot looked like . . . that and I wasn't comfortable crashing my bike with my video camera on it. :p And trying to avoid the freshly laid down white/orange stripes in some areas - as you can tell from my tires in the bike close-up, I wasn't very successful . . . ;)

Setup is simple - I swear by my Ultra Pod II when quick tripod is needed - the velcro strap attachment is what comes in handy for shots like these . . http://www.sxc.hu/pic/b/s/so/sofa/ultra-pod-ii.jpg

The low side angle was shot with the Ultra Pod mounted against the inside of my bottle cage and the velcro around the downtube.

Handlebar shot - self-explanatory - and the view that's just a little back is the camera mounted on the top tube under the saddle . . . made for some creative wide-leg pedaling arcs . . .

Luwin, another great angle is to mount the camera on the seat tube, just above the water cage.

Sweeeeet!

I was this -> <- close to hauling up my videocamera last saturday to take some video with my friend. Maybe i'll do it tomorrow afternoon. ;)

Now to just figure out if i really want to haul an extra 10 lbs with me to the top... (tripod and camera)

That is ultra cool. Now if we could only see what you look like, with all the gear and contraptions for that video.

Found my mini tripod (it's got little flex arms)... Now to convince myself to bring my bike with me to my job interview tomorrow so i can head straight to GMR afterwards. :D

You should offer to trade straight up. It's fair because your bike is green.

Average grade is 5% with very rare bits up to 7%, i.e. not steep. Lovely ride, really!

And a great video too! Excellent job on that!

Best Regs,
Rick / OCRR

Just wanted to document it so we can relive in the safety of our homes until the road closes to cars again . . . ;)

And Voltman - c'mon, isn't your bike too small?

Luwin, I wanted to personally Thank you for ALL your time and efforts that went into this video. Playing hookey or not, I appreciate it. Now I can actually show people what I did, albeit with assistance!

Thanks again, Karen
