Instead of the DK Signal

Like you all know I was thinking about getting the DK Signal to replace my Hoffman, because I wanted a bike that was more suited for flatland use.

But now I have a job, and I am starting to get the cash. So I'm wondering if there are any other good flatland bikes that are a step up from the Signal (I don't want to end up buying the Signal and then one month later have too much extra cash laying around and wishing I had bought a better bike)? I'm thinking like up to around $500 this time (instead of up to about $250 like my old cash limit).

KHE has a few complete flat bikes out i do beleive. Check those out.

Is the WTP Metric any good? It is of course $599, while the DK Signal is only $289 (both from flatlandfuel.com), but it seems to look a lot better (except it does not have chrome rims). The KHE Tantra is too expensive (it's like over $900 I think), but the KHE Dafunction is only $499. Seems OK, but the color/design isn't the best looking.

One thing though, if I get a cheaper bike it'll leave me with more money for upgrades and stuff. So I could like get the DK Signal and have a few hundred dollars to spend on upgrades, or I could get the WTP Metric and have not much left over. Although I don't want to spend too much though, because while I do like BMXing a lot, it isn't the main thing I do for fun (like some of you do I would imagine). It's just something I do for fun and I don't want to end up spending $1000 on a bike where a $500 one would have been just as much fun.

So I guess the main three options I have now are the DK Signal (pros: chrome rims, cheaper, etc), KHE Dafunction (pros: 3pc crank, cheaper than the WTP, etc), and the WTP Metric (pros: 3pc crank, good looks, etc).

KHE has always been known for their flatland stuff, so I would be more dependent on them.

Neither one of them has super good looks though, the KHE is an ugly blue, and the DK is an ugly green. But I'm not getting it for looks I don't think. Not really anyway.

One thing I like about the DK is that it has chrome rims, which should help with braking.

can you use any freestyle frame for basic flatland? The low-end stuff is still high priced here in Aus.

If you plan on riding mostly flat, you probly wont really need 3pc cranks. At least i'd hold off till you bend the 1pc ones. I don't see how you could put alot of stress on them from just riding flat.
