General Cycling Discussion - What's the best thing you've found/dragged home from a ride?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Stuff you might use, like money, clothing, etc? Or do you never stop at all?
Like the full pair of Fox Gloves that I use as cold weather gloves; my husband found them cycling back from work.
He just recently found half a box of staples for his Senco staple gun--he'll use them around here for sure. He's brought home pairs of leather gloves and tools also.
I have found and dragged home jackets, many towels(great for the rag box) and once, when I was very thirsty, a sealed bottle of water--perfect timing!

:) found nothing yet :) but had to give one homeless some food.
oh yeah, and had to scare a bunch of kids away, around 20 of them at the age of around 1o-11, from the other side of the wire fence, were throwing stones at an old homeles man...
I found this little guy all alone by the Argosey(sp?) Casino in Baton Rouge. I brought him home defleaed him, fed him for a week and gave him to a no kill shelter. Oh yea we named him Blackjack.

I found the air conditioner I am currently cooling my cats apartment with (unfortunately the cats staged a bloodless coup in which they took the apartment from me; they are currently keeping me around to pay rent so they can stay cool during the warm summer months and are threatening me with homelessness once cool weather hits. Ungrateful bastards.).
I've also found: a VCR, couch, bookshelf, futon (my bed), computer table, box fan, and a lot of other neat stuff. That's what happens when you ride down the alleyways!

Wow... you hauled all that back on your bike? I'm impressed. Are you one of the guys on this page (http://www.bikesatwork.com/hauling-cargo-by-bike/household-move-by-bike.html)?

Naw, I'm not that hardcore. When I found the couch it was only five or six blocks away so it only took a little effort to move it. That's an awesome site though! Maybe I should work on moving like that next time I move!

A nice lookin' man weekend before last  Clubbed him over the head.
A 6-inch Craftsman adjustable wrench. Apparently it had been on the road for a while, with nicks and rust everywhere. Took it to Sears and they replaced it for free! It now lives comfortably in a warm tool box.

all kinds of stuff...I found a bag of kittens, some low life pond scum sucking dill weed dumped at a trail head, if the world ever needs an enama I hope they stick it to them. There were five kittens about 4 weeks old, I tried but only three of them made it, they were very weak and sick. Why would anyone do this? At least they could have let them out of the bag.
Two guns, one was a shot gun that someone had leaned agenst a tree in a state forest, from the looks of it it had been there for years as it was covered with rust. I found it when I stepped off a trail to ansuer the call of nature. The secound gun was a glock 9mm that I found on the side of the road, most likley tossed out a car window from the looks of it. One round in the chamber and five more in the clip. I turned both guns into the state police.
Other stuff I've found, some I took home, some I left there. Tools of all sorts, money, purse (returned to owner, reward! Ka-ching!), wallet (returned to owner, acused of stealing it, see if I do that again!) A huge box of x rated tapes and some really freaky Poliroids with names and phone numbers on the back, 8 cell Maglight, Swiss army knife, hand cuffs. Lots of stuff but the funniest would have to be a plastic Jesus, a gross of them in a box.

A friend found the cat I currently have in a bear trap with it's siblings. How I would love to put that person in a trap!

:) Thats cool :)
I once found a 3/8" X 7/16" Snap-On wrench, and two different girlfriends. I still have the wrench.
Yesterday I found a small bag full of tools, most were cheep but there was a small Snap-on ratchet, I kept the ratchet and left the rest. It's the second Snap-on ratchet I have found and the third in my tool box.

Good man, me and my mum have taken in loads of pets, we'd rather go to the pound for a pet than buy a pedegree, as they live longer, and have less health problems. why you'd want a pedegree i have no idea, some of the breeders nowadays are terrible. A Boxer ***** was brought in, you could literally see EVERY rib, and EVERY vertibrae, i was furious and wanted to report the woman, but the RSPCA is useless, plus if the people found out where i saw it, im sure id lose my job. (i work at vets, saying i love animals, and money :D)
Jeese, out of the three cats, and four dogs, most all of them are rescues. Best animals ever, and the look on their face when you bring them in, bath them and give them a good feed, is priceless.
The ****** above means b1tch, as that means female dog, not the woman who bred them :D

ya know ive always wonderd why if you are going to spend so much on a pet one would buy one that looked like that. one of the pet shops weve gone to has pups that sometimes look like walking skeletons. with prices from upper 200s to upper 500s for those prices id would want something that at least looked healthy, seeing as im a cheep skate, the pound has plenty of fine dogs for when we finally get out of this darn trailer court

Just like most of us on this thread have our preferences for componentry or whole bikes, people have legitimate preferences in the appearance or abilities of dogs. Domestic dogs are as much a human product as dairy cattle or bicycles. My personal preference is to go to the breed rescue organizations to give a dog a second chance at a good home, that way I have the best of both worlds. That's how we got Alice and the Newf before her.

I have found a few nice tools and a young lady's purse with wallet which I returned. The best thing, though, was a mid-70s Trek 10-speed. The frame is now my fixed gear primary commuter!
Found a woman that had crashed on her road bike once. Took her home (via hospital), had her cleaned up. I guess you could say I kept her as we ended up getting married a year later.

Isn't that just the way life works? :D
