On june 5th, the day after my 17th birthday, I'll be flying to Charlotte, then Pittsburg, whew, and drive on south to Morgontown to check out West Virginia University. I wonder if they have any big lodging places and such and things to do downtown other than just take the school tour. I'll also be checking terrain for appropriate MTB trails:D. Anything I should check out there or have advice on?

Check out Coopers Rock and Big Bear (Bruceton Mills) for mountain biking. Both places are awesome. Big Bear is nice fast single track, Coopers Rock is a nice technical place to ride with plenty of variety.

How will you drive south to Morgontown? You aren't old enough to rent a car....will your parents or somebody else be there to rent a car? I'm only saying this to make sure you realize you can't just walk up and rent a car. Most rental car companies require you to be 25 to rent.
