Hello. I was wondering if anyone has some good recomendations for a LWB with underseat steering. My mother has had a recumbent for many years. It is a rans but with above seat steering. She recently tried a old LWB Ryan recumbent and loved the underseat steering and it was easier on her knees. She does alot of touring with her bent so any new bike would have to be suitable for that. Thanks

Not many still in the USA.
The Longbikes Slipstream is one: http://www.longbikes.com/
Nicely built but not cheap.
Alternately you could ask around if anyone has a Ryan they're willing to get rid of.

If you're really detirmined, there might be a similar Euro model too, but it doesn't seem like there's very many cheap Euro-made bents. And you'd be paying ~$200+ more just to get it shipped.

Maybe you can find someone to build you one of these:

Thank you! I had already recomended the Longbikes LWB to her. It looks just about perfect for what she needs. I just wanted to know if there were any other options out there.
Linear has a new model... ... peace

last fall i rode one of the new Linear markIII models,
a pleasant comfortable ride, the bike had a good feel.
less $$ than the Longbike, IMO the Longbike is better.
i ride a fully suspended SWB with underseat steering
HPV SMGTe, it is great for touring and easier to haul
around than a LWB.

I'm a newbie to recumbents, but I have the Linear LWB USS and I love it. I can't see why you wouldn't want your hands naturally at your sides. USS is logical -- the "ape hangers" are for people who expect thier recumbent to be like an upwrong bike. It's easier to reach the nachos in your lap, too.
