Pacific Northwest - Wednesday Ride on Row River Trail

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
The Row (sounds like now) River Trail is a Rails-to-Trails project starting in Cottage Grove, Oregon, going east from town into the Cascade Mountains. The trail is 16 miles long, but at the east end it connects with very low volume paved roads that go into the Umpqua National Forest.
I rode 50 miles, from Cottage Grove to Spirit Falls and back the same way. The ride included three covered bridges, and 3000 ft of climbing over 25 miles.
The first bridge is the Mosby Creek Bridge
The trail is hard surface and very smooth
After leaving the rails-to-trails path, it's on to Culp Creek and the National Forest
This is the Row River and the paved roads in the forest
And the second covered bridge, Dorena Bridge
Then into the National Forest
Then the last bridge of the day
That looks like a marvelous ride, Thanks!

Looks like a great ride. I do the Banks to Vernonia rail trail a couple times a month during the summer, but with the about 15 miles of gravel I take the mountain bike. We still need to plan some of the training rides for Cycle Oregon. Take care.
Mark this trail on your list of rides, the trail starts in downtown Cottage Grove, OR It is great for the whole family, very safe.
There is a new French Bakery downtown to supply the fuel.

Very cool! Thanks for the tip, Shifty. My wife & I will be down in Eugene next month; we'll definitely hit this trail.
Wow! That sounds like a beautiful and (for me challenging) ride. I'd love to do it some day. Thanks for the pictorial...so nice :) Love the bike staging in some of the more meaningful stages of your ride ;). Sometimes a bike needs a good lookin' over huh? lol
