The original plan was to drive up to Hartsdale this upcoming weekend to attend a party, but I'm thinking a bike ride would be much more enjoyable :D . With that said, what are the best roads or routes to get from Brooklyn or Manhattan up to the White Plains area?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

From Manhattan:

West Side trailway to Dyckman St.

Make your way to the Henry Hudson Bridge pedestrian path and cross.

Follow Henry Hudson Parkway service road to Riverdale Avenue.

Riverdale Avenue/Warburton Avenue north to Main Street, Hastings on Hudson.

(Take Broadway instead from downtown Yonkers to Hastings if you want a couple of hills.)

Right on Main Street. Cross Broadway (steep hill to Intersection). Bear right onto Farragut Avenue.

about 3/4 mile, Left onto Ravensdale Road.

Cross over Saw Mill/Henry Hudson Parkway.

Either go south about 1/4 mile to Farragut Avenue to pick up South County Trailway trail head, and go north on Trailway to exit described below; or

go north on Saw Mill River Road. (Nice riding, especially on a Sunday, but no shoulder and fairly heavy traffic.

Right on Ardsley Road, Ardsley. (from the bike trail, you will see a school bus parking lot on your right, and a big overpass above. Exit through the school bus parking lot to Saw Mill River Road.)

Ardsley Road, across Central Avenue, into downtown Scarsdale. Cross over Bronx River Parkway and Metro North tracks, and make left into downtown (look for train station and Zachy's wines; don't know exact name of street). Note: Ardsley Road very busy and hilly, but bikable.

Ride a few blocks to end of downtown, where you are forced to make right onto Crane Road.

Take immediate left onto Fox Meadow Road. Follow this to Fennimore Road.

Left on Fennimore will take you into downtown/train station Hartsdale.

If it's a Sunday morning in June, you can also ride the Bronx River Parkway from downtown Scarsdale to the Fennimore Road exit.
