As long as my red star keeps the ads away ill be happy.

Ditto, although I have plenty of ways to block any and all ads.

I'll try to respond to a couple questions here. Things like registrations and such will remain unchanged. Same with Red Stars. As for new forums and such, we'll look to the moderator team to guide thinking on this. We hope our initial contributions are less visible, in terms of tech and business infrastructure.

Joe...

Congratulations on the sale. You've done something impressive here at BikeForums. And you've weathered a lot. The Al Qaeda hack and the Bicycle Smile thread being two of them. I hope you feel proud. And do well with your future ventures.

Vaya con Dios, Amigo.

Joe - congratulations and thank you for establishing this site. It is fantastic, and because I have had a little experience being a administrator on a much smaller bird watching list server, I can truly appreciate the hassles and hard work that went into keeping BF up and running. You have truly created value and I am sure that Internet Brands will help to continue improving BF. I, too, hope the red star continues to do the trick. Again, congratulations and many thanks.

Joe, is the rumour true that Shadiyah is going to kidnap you to Costa Rica where you can live off fresh fruits and vegatables and perhaps a few Piņa Coladas thrown in for good measure...

"I’m also looking forward to having access to unlimited time with their programmers and server techs".

I think a dose of reality would be useful. If you can get unlimited time with them, there is a problem, they aren't worth a damn and there is too much overhead. More likely you will have to fight like heck amongst others to get access to their best programmers - a great coder is worth 10x all the others.

Well, i was thinking on say something or not, i'm not good to say things in english and sometimes i prefer stay quiet.

But you (Joe Gardner) permit me have the oportunity to meet other persons, to have a contact with the world from this little poor province. I don't pay any money and i was supported, i made a lot of mistakes and i received help and comprehension. I think that say thanks is little.

If you come to Argentina remember that you have a house an all the help you will need (only send me an e-mail) it will be an honor have you (and your friends) here.

Sincerely Amigo

Good luck

This is exactly the reason the forums exist. To bring cyclists from all over the world together, as one cycling community.

Thanks Joe for all the time and money you spent on this forum. I have gained so much knowledge from Bike Forums. I would have never continued to bike commute year after year all year round. If it wasn't for this community.

Thank you,
Johnny

Congrats, Joe ~ this is the measure of a job well done in the world of discussion forums. I have to say that I've been on a number of others, mod'd one and contributed to others in my professional world and this site's QoS has always been consistently good. I evangelize Discussion Forums rather than blogs in my business, and you've done a remarkable job keeping people's attention and getting the sponsors. Best of luck in the new ventures :D.

Personally it has changed my life and that is something that cannot be valued. Thank you and your team.

Well along another Simpson episode, I hope the cycling world doesn't end up with the cycling version of "FUNZO!" developed by secret marketing specialists watching us from behind the screen!

:) Seriously though, congratulations Joe. Enjoy some time without having to worry about the forums for awhile.

I only hope they stay the same way with the new folks on board. Sometimes things can change quite a bit when there is a real vested interest at stake (look at VwVortex).
