Ghost Dog was the shizznit! I've seen it at least 3-4 times. We kinda agree about LKS on a lot of things though. The movie i think didnt really make Ami out to be as bad as he really was! Seemed like the story was trying to play him for a little sympathy. Its like trying to personalize Hitler. Like they did in the movie Max (which was awsome BTW) and Downfall (also awesome). But unlike Max or Downfall, LKS really had a hard time holding my interest throughout. So they didnt really do a good job of it.
Personally, I'm pretty burnt out on war movies and westerns. So theres another point we can agree on.

No Country for Old Men. It didn't suck and Javier Bardem's icy hit man was an awesome role but the movie was outrageously implausible and very boring at times. Best picture of 2007?!?
I totally disagree.
Have you ever watched any other Coen Brother's movies. They are all implausible.

Most of the previous Coen brother's movies were zany off-the-wall or black comedies which lend themselves to implausibility. In NCfOM, Sheriff Bell's occasional scenes of angst and self doubt bring the film to a screeching halt (though events of the film were seen from his perspective?).
Anton Chigurh walks everywhere unimpeded with that impossible to silence to any significant degree shotgun and his pressurized air tank/ bolt gun. Gunfights, automatic weapon fire, smashing cars, heavily armed, surely afoul of the law men strolling about without any inconvenient bystanders calling the police.
I am a big fan of the Coens and this movie was pretty good I just don't think it deserved best picture over Michael Clayton or There Will BE Blood.

Totally agree. I saw Old Dudes with my pops on Saturday night and we both enjoyed it very much. I think i even got the ending, strange as it was.
I really think you need to be older to get this movie. It makes the sherriffs POV and reason for being in the movie more plausible. If i were watching this as a 20 year old i would probably be muttering alot of WTF's.

Napolean Dynamite
Cloverfield absolutely sucked. The marketing was genius, but the movie really, reallly, really sucked. If you want to see a cool monster movie that is also pretty funny see the South Korean movie, The Host
All of the Harry Potter movies sucked big time. What a ****.
Steven King's The Mist was horrible. Man that sucked. Sucked. Sucked. Forevah!
No Country 4 Old Men was a good story with awesome acting and directing. I did not like all of the sadistic blood splattering. I was a gross movie and I wanted to leave because of the over the top violence. Michael Clayton I enjoyed very much because you had to pay careful attention in order to get the story. I loved it.

The coens always make amazing movies. The last one was way too bloody, though.

I can't believe people didn't like Napoleon Dynamite. I watched it alone and hadn't heard about it before I watched it. I laughed out loud several times, and I never* laugh out loud at movies, especially if I'm all by myself in the living room. Hilarious.
And ghost dog was great, but I've never hear people talk glowingly about it in general.
The movie whose popularity I cannot* understand is "Grease". It's like some universally adored movie which has no redeeming qualities.
The first time I glanced at N.D. I thought it was about high schoolers on Ridalyn. I thought it was stupid. Then one night I was bored in my recliner, and I watched it. I laughed and laughed at that movie. I liked it because it wasn't square but it was clever enough to be clean. I hate it when movies have to resort to gutter stuff to get a laugh. N.D. was clever. Was it a Kubrick masterpiece? Nope, but I enjoyed it.
Vote for Pedro!:D

Forrest Gump--I agree with all other dissing of this; maybe the worst movie ever made. Did see a "sleeper" recently that I thought was fantastic; "The Cinderella Man" with Russel Crowe and Renee Zelwegger; a Depression-era boxing drama/bio.

i like that movie a lot.
'Forrest Gump' seems to be on tv every other minute, along with:
-True Lies
- Die Hard with a Vengeance
- A few good Men
- Age of Innocence
it's the same three movies every day!

I saw Juno and while OK it did not deserve a best picture nomination. I believe The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford deserved Juno's spot but then I love slow paced, beautifully shot and relentlessly depressing movies.
I believe Cinderella Man was a very good movie but it's release was overshadowed but one of Russel Crowe's legendary violent tantrums- not the phone throwing incident but when he threw some poor schlub up against a wall backstage because he was told there wasn't enough time left at this particular function for Crowe's no doubt brilliant piece of poetry to be read.

Trying to stay within the scope of the OP is hard but I'll try (as in movies people love) so here goes.
I hate:
Pulp Fiction (too cool for school quotefest at parties drive me nuts...)
Shrek (people act like you just grew a second head when you say you haven't seen 2 or 3)
Seabiscuit (can't stand movies with animals, my bias I guess)
Pretty Woman (puke)

All the hipster blog sites go ape**** for this flick. Just goes to show that most hipsters are idiots. Then again, maybe in my old age a little narritive goes along way. Shock for shocks sake is still mostly crap.
Alien, slow, pointless movie.
Anything by M. Night Shamalan(a ding dong), his movies are like baseball games, you can go away for an hour and not miss a thing.

 complaining about forrest gump, true lies, and die hard 3 being on all the time?! blasphemy! those are classics!
my pick is there will be blood. my friends and i were all pumped to see it, and we all walked out very underwhelmed.
Titanic -- My mom rented it, I had to walk away by the halfway mark.
English Patient -- I felt all sorts of sympathy for Colin Firth's character, and none for the main characters.
Braveheart -- Mel Gibson vanity film.
And I'm going to get lambasted for this, but Dumb and Dumber is on my list, cos I just didn't get it.
I liked Napoleon Dynamite though, which has been mentioned quite a few times previous.

No country for old men (something like that)
Borat sucks balls
Atonement was beyond dull, so dull I left the room to punch myself in the balls while watching paint dry
Napolean Dynosucks, I can't even watch the guy act let alone a whole movie about how much he sucked
Beowulf
All movies that got amazing reviews in general, all of them SUCKED. Some sucked because the expectation was higher than what actually occured (Beowulf would have been good as a movie, or better advertised as an animation)
No country just blew, I had big expectations, the commercials looked good, the style looked ok....it stunk.
oh pretty much everything that does win a emmy or grammy or any of that other garbage...they usually end up being good. Almost everything that came in 1st sucked.

**** reading this thread is just addictive. Mist was HORRIBLE...Cloverfield sucked almost as much as lost, and thats an achievement.
I am not a huge cohen fan, their movies are hit or miss with me. I also don't get freaked out by gore, so the only good part about no country was the gore factor.

Other than a list already mentioned that I liked (count on one hand & still have the thumb), I agree w/ all the trash put out.
300, English Patient, Forrest Gump, etc.
Godfather III.
A special missile fired at Borat.
Anything w/ Will Ferrell.
American Me.
Too many others to list. I think it would be easier to list movies from the last decade that WERE good.

Sweeney Todd. Just didn't do anything for me. All the shock value wore off after the first blood spewing slit of a throat. I will say that the graphic work was quite impressive though.
being john malkovitch...i wouldn't say it SUCKED but i couldn't get what everyone was raving about.
