Going to Seneca middle of next week to join the Ride 4 Life for the Crisis Pregnancy Center there.
First day 110 miles

I made it back in one piece.
The heat was horrible. The ride was great.
Day 1: 110 miles / 18.3 mph
Day 2: 105 miles / 18.7 mph
Day 3: 80 miles / 19.7 mph
So the last day wasn't a complete century, but it hurt like one.
Each day we stayed with the main group for a while before picking up the pace. That's why our averages were so low.
The last day we probably averaged well into the 20s on the last half of the ride. It was flat and smooth.
I met a lot of new friends. Ones I hope I never lose touch with.

Congratulations for survival.
Looks like you were getting faster as the days went by. If you kept it up for another week or two, you'd be flying. ;)

Nice ride, sub, though I know it was HOT in the foothills.
Your last comment made me think. I went on a solo ride Saturday, a bit over 30 miles. I saw two other cyclists. One was pulling out of a gas station where he had presumably "refueled." I couldn't get any more than a hesitant "hi" out of him before he tried to pedal away. He pulled about 50 yards ahead, but he wasn't that much faster than me.
I've done an organized ride with the same friendly results you had. My question is this: how come it's so much more accepted to be very friendly when you meet a fellow cyclist on an organized ride vs just out on the open road? Thoughts?

Well it's no different to me.
I chase guys down to say, "hi."
I do get the snobbish head tilt once and a while. Or the casual wave.
But sometimes I get a friendly smile and wave. Most of the time it's the commuters who are more friendly.
