With the onset of the guys and women's hot thread and posting pics, I was wondering something.
Although you get a picture of someone once you've seen them, do you get a better "picture" of who they are from them and the type of pics they post? Do you form a more thorough knowledge and opinion of them? For example, when I see Mirona, I feel that he should be of model material such as I do with Shadiyah. Both of them have a natural beauty about them. Skiahh I could never imagine being anything but Military. Ms Gio I always think of the giver of heart because of the pics of her group doing so much for others. Jon is just ...........well Jon is Jon.

context is everything
Yeah... I know from the pics that you've posted that you're very mysterious. :) ;) :p

First of all, thank you. :) Second, kidcharlamagne, does make a good point that posts should be taken in context. Personally I feel as if posts give you a good idea of how the person thinks but, yet, when you meet them and see them in action you get the big picture of who they are. Maybe that's just the inner observer coming out.

why? are you trying to decide on what "type" of picture you will post so we can form an opinion of you?;)
the answer to me is this would be like judging a book by it's cover. You cant form an opinion of someone even after meeting them in real life till a good amount of time passes and you know them better, never mind on the net with pics at hands.

To some degree. But it's worth noting that some people may only have a limited number of pictures to post because, well, it can be hard to get a good picture of yourself.
BDG makes a good point. It's always great to put a face to a name (or forum username in this case). I'm usually pretty bad with names if I put the name to the face. But I'm usually better about remembering what someone looks like after knowing the name for a while first. Sometimes I'm surprised by the face behind the name, sometimes not.
Personally, I've been somewhat image conscious in the past and have undergone some fairly extensive surgery that has changed the look of my face considerably about 7 years ago. The reasons went well beyond just the outward appearance that was changed, but I won't lie to state that it didn't help in that area. Even now, long after, I still carefully pick photos that avoid side profiles because of that though. And generally think that a large portion of the photos taken of me aren't all that great.

Everyone makes a conscious decision about the image of themselves they want to portray. This is true in real life, and it's true on the internet. None of it is definitive by any stretch of the imagination, nor does it serve as a substitute for actually knowing a person, but I do think there's something to be learned about a person from the images they choose to use to represent themselves.
I will say, though, that the "ladies of foo" thread is a great example of the fact that real beauty requires no primping, photoshopping, or posing. Some of the best photos in that thread are of women just enjoying life--the inner beauty radiates out just fine.

True words, each and every one of them.

Someone took a picture of me in one of those while wrapped in plastic wrap.
Needless to say - THAT was an interesting party... Only regret - I don't have the pic!

Personally, I think it's just nice to see who's on the other end. Not that it matters too much, but it is nice. I really can't see vastly changing my view of them based on what they look like. Maybe based on what they are depicted doing in the pictures, sure, but not pure looks. Pictures of Ms. Gio's philanthropy work say something specific about who she is, whereas Chipcom's picture, crossdressing and bralessness aside, doesn't go into specifics. [edit: On second thought, bad example. Chipcom's picture goes into way too many specifics. :p]
In any case, I just think the picture threads are fun, and that's really all there is to it, to me. :)

I actually put my pic up in the women's thread a couple of nights ago. Hee hee.

I don't care what someone looks like, pics are meaningless to me. Fun to look at I guess after you get to know someone on the web, but its actuall personalities that I like.

Did you take it down already? I don't recall seeing it and don't see it now!
I think pictures give just a tiny piece of the puzzle. But you also have to keep in mind that - with the exception of Jon - people only post what they consider good pictures of themselves. That, in itself, is another bit of info, too.

I think you definitely get to know a person better based on their thoughts & ideas vs their appearance. However as humans we typically want to form our opinion of a person firstly based on their appearance and secondly based on their personality / thoughts. I think it's an instinctual thing.
Prior to seeing most of your photos I had pictured many of you guys as completely different individuals. Except for a few that I had pegged dead on. For instance, I pretty much pictured jsharr as his recent photo ... except without the zipper :)
