Foo - Oops! I Just Blew Up A Rental Forklift!

We had to rent a forklift here at work. I'm the only one with any experience driving one so I get the pleasure of doing so. Well, we had this one about 30 minutes when the engine made a horrific noise and died. Smoke that had that burned plastic smell was coming from the engine compartment. Not good.:( And to boot it's an all-terrain forklift and it's out in the feild behind the building. So is the mechanic the rental place sent.

I so hope the rest of the day is better.

Who cares? Its a rental. Same thing happened to me once with an air jack hammer.

How can it get any better than blowing up an engine in a vehicle you don't own? You should take the rest of the day off and go do something fun.

Oh man, bad memory here:
I had a string of bad situations at this one job I had as a stupid teen: Wrecked a work truck, messed up a tile floor with a buffing machine, helped a friend dive off a loading dock with a riding mower, and had the lifts up on a fork lift and smashed the overhead on the same loading dock door. They fired me. I deserved it.

So this is what happens when you bring a turtle across a road. Peculiar.

But if you wanna get all technical, the engine that powered the air compressor blew out.

Gah, as I was reading the title, I got as far as "Oops! I Just Blew Up A Rectal..." before I was going to move on. Luckily, the word "forklift" caught my eye, which helped clarify things.

One funny thing is they delivered it, had to come fix it and have to come back and pick it up when I'm only using it for 2 hours.

I saw a guy back a forklift off a loading dock once. He got fired. He ended up working for the same company driving a forklift in a different warehouse two weeks later. I decided that it would be a good thing if I quit working there.

In a similar situation, I was 45 miles from the rental shop when I had the air hammer blow out. They had to send a guy out who thought he could fix it. After he realized he couldn't, they had to send out another guy pulling a fresh compressor.
