Commuting - After Friday will have 2 bikes to commute with.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Bought a Specialized Road bike. I figure using both to commute will work the legs in different ways. Use my MTB with slicks for easy recovery rides, and the road bike to really try for new personal bests in time.
Anyone else do this? To me it makes a lot of sense.
I find it is very helpful to have a backup bike in case of a flat. My Specialized Crossroas is too delicate and underequipped to be a primary commuter, but it works well for this. When I ride it, I do notice the different riding position and consequent different muscle use. Sometimes, I borrow my wife's road bike. Surprisingly, the road bike is often slower than my city bike, due to all the stoplights. However, it is nice to get down in the drops when there is a 30 mph headwind. It is great to have a spectrum of bikes available.

I have to admit to using 3.
An old Trek 930 MTB for winter/nights and generally crummy weather.
A Trek 1200 for everyday commuting.
And a LeMond Victoire for days I plan to ‘take the long way home’.
I just love weeks of bad weather and I ride the MTB all week then can get on the LeMond on the weekend!
I can fly!

Kind of hard to ride both at the same time, but all the more to you!
