Road Cycling - I finally bought a road bike. Specialized Allez

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

First would like to thank everyone here that replied to my earlier posts which helped me decide on the bike I decided to go with.

Second, I know my physical conditioning is fairly decent since I ride 5-7 days per week depending on certain circumstances. I may not be able to do 40-50 miles yet, but I know I can do at least 25, since I do that about daily on a MTB with slicks.

I decided to go with a Specialized Allez, which only comes in flat blue. Not my personal choice for color, but there was no other option for this model. No special deal, paid regular price. Did tell the LBS to install SPD pedals since I have a pair on my MTB. Also getting a Mity 8 put on as well, the MTB has a Mity 3. I'm definitely excited about picking up the bike. I get it Friday when I drop off my MTB for service. It will be weird being in that hunched over position at first, but I think I'll adjust quickly.

Thanks again for everyones input on the bikes I asked about.

Good luck with your new purchase! I hope you will get many miles of use out of the allez. Specialized makes good products, now get out there and go riding.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy it. Those Specialized bikes are a good value, I think. Did you get the aluminum or cromoly version? (Isn't that one of the models that come in both?)

No the Allez Comp is available in either form. Mine is the base which is all I can afford since I'm financing it with the 90 days same as cash setup. I put down 1/3 of the cost yesterday. Here's a pic, I hope it works.

Congrats on the purchase. Personally, I really like the flat blue color. Nothing else out there looks quite like it. I think it'll grow on you.

Great bike! I've got an Allez Sport and absolutely love it -- lots of bang for the buck, but more important it's a very nice-riding bicycle that just eats up the miles.

Enjoy!
