BMX - ticking rear sprocket

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i just bought a piece of **** "mongoose outer limits" to beat up on some stair jumps and it has an awful ticking noise that happens when i peddle or just coast, i took it all apart and its coming from the rear sprocket and i cant detach it to open it up, it isnt normal for a bike to make that noise is it? somone told me some models were suppose to and that sounded stupid to me........

Even when you pedal? If it's only when you're coasting then it's just the pawls clicking; That's normal. If you also hear the noise when you pedal, I don't know what that might be.

The clicking sound is your freewheel.
Unless it's clicking while you pedal like hockey mentioned, it should be fine.
If you are still worried take it to your local bike shop.
yea its only when i coast, thanks guys
