KHS Bikes ? saw these bikes today while searching for my hardrock . Are they a well known make in the bike world? Quality? yep I am the big guy 400 lbs..lol

Hav friend that rode one for years. His might be a 1998. He kicked azz. We had a tandem in 96. Was a great bike. gave up nothing to the current tandem I have now that was 3 times the price. Not sure about comfort bikes. Was more popular a few years ago. Maybe they didn't have the advertising of other big companies, but they are good bikes.

KHS is a recognized brand; it's not some off-the-wall department store bike. Don't know much about individual models, but my wife has a $600 one we bought at REI a year or so ago, and it's been fine. It's a Tradewind or Trailwind, something like that, billed as "a road bike with the comfort of mountain bike controls." She never liked drop bars, and she loves it. I'd assume it's the equivalent of most of the other mass-prod bikes in that range, Giant and Specialized and the rest.

Three years ago I bought a KHS Town and Country 100. It's great! They use shimano components so you're not getting weird no name bits and pieces. I bought mine in Toronto at Urbane Cyclist (just saying cuz you are OntarioBrandon. I'm taking liberties assuming where you are located!), and they were incredibly nice to me. I'm a robust Athena, so I wanted a bike that could comfortabley carry me but I couldn't afford to pay alot, and the KHS met both requirements. Have fun trying out bikes!
