"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Ullrich

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said today that Jan Ullrich might be stripped of the two Olympic medals - a gold in the road race and silver in the TT - he won in 2000 in Sydney.
"We will investigate the revelations that have been made by riders from Telekom, because several of them took part in the Olympic Games," said Rogge.

That is one of the most ridiculous positions I have heard through this entire scandal ridden year. Ullrich's medals are for individual achievements and should only be stripped for his individual culpability. It is irrelevant what his team mates were doing unless it somehow shows hows that he too was doping at that time. The only relevant question to whether those medals should be stripped and reissued is whether the WADA system can show that Ullrich himself was doping DURING THE 2000 OLYMPICS. It is very likely that he was doping at that time and it is probable that no one can prove it now.
This kind of over-reaction and prejudging is ridiculous and should alienate fans of the sport. Doping is a bane of sport but this kind of hyperbole is just about as bad.

They would also have to strip silver and bronze from Vino and Kloden.
