Mountain Biking - A tree fell on me

I was riding one of the local trails called River Runs through it. Combination of very technical terrain, small drops and skinnies (with matching girlie lines) when I cam accross something I hadn't seen. A low thin tree. (something you could ride under with skill) So I attempted to go under it however being as tall as I am my seat got stuck. So I went to pull my bike out and to my surprise the whole fricken tree fell on the bike and me. It had broken and was leaning against another tree by a thread.

Needless to say my seat is ripped wide open and i have a couple of bruises. But on a good note I cleared some skinnies I hadnt cleared before and did some drops which I hadn't done - all with a busted seat :)

I witnessed a rotten tree fall, a month ago. It made so much noise that I saw it falling from half a mile. When I came close to look at it, the tree was of a diameter of a person...
When putting tents in the woods, need to make sure it's not under one of those dry ones, especially if you are camping in the
Redwoods. ;)

It is definately an interesting sound to hear something creak and then actually fall. Makes you think twice about going under 'natural' bridges. :)

I had a tree fall on my face when I was a kid. I have a scar on my nose from it

Better a broken seat than a broken body part! Glad you cleared some new stuff and made it out okay.

You'd better believe somebody would hear it if a tree fell on me in the forrest!
