height is only a smaller factor in frame sizing.

I agree that height isn't that important in & of itself.
I'm 5'10.5" I ride 54-56cm, depending on top tube length. I have long legs, which should require a larger frame, but my upper body is short, so I end up with a shorter stem and a lot of seatpost showing. Someday I'll get a custom frame...

haha thats what i was wondering
here are a few links about bike fitting/sizing
http://www.cyclemetrics.com/Pages/FitLinks/bike_fit_links.htm
http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/fitting.htm
http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/
not comprehensive by any means mind you
best bet is to talk to a pro if you can
one that can be trusted and is not just trying to sell you the bike that is in stock

I feel short coming in at 5'9" and some change. I ride a 55cm soma, but those run slightly small so it fits perfectly.

My Raleigh has a TT of 55.8 but it's a 30" standover,
My custom has an effective TT of 53.5
and my IRO is a 54TT.
And I am 5'6" - I think.
5'2" - 43cm Fuji Track SE. It fits perfectly.
5-11 and a change, long legs, 53 - 58 frames
183cm, 55cm top tube with flats, 54 with drops
183cm (6') - 56, 58, 59, 60, 62, and they all fit. Different frames have different geometry, there is no 'one size' for you.

Exactly....I'm 6'1" and ride a 57, 58, and 62..and there are plenty of frames in the 54-56 range that would fit me too.

5 ft, 49 cm soma rush. i don't think it's too big, but the other short folks around here (even the ones taller than me) seem to ride smaller frames.
Height 5'10"
60cm KHS Flite
55cm Pista
53 cm IRO
I ride with risers or flat bars. I find that if you don't ride drops, you can find a wider range of bikes you feel comfortable on. I certainly would not fit on the KHS if I was riding drops -- it's actually the most comfortable of my 3 bikes.

5'9" and I ride a 56cm Redline 925. I think it's too big for me so I think I'm gonna sell it and pick up a 53-54cm track bike. I want something w/a short wheelbase as my fixie.

5'7" - 49 cm, but it's a bit on the large side.
For all you guys that use 54 or 56 cm frames - you're so freakin lucky! You can buy tons of frames in those sizes, and almost none in 49 or 48.

I stand 6'2", but I have a long torso and short legs.
In order to get the standover height my short legs require, I ride a 59 Pista frame, which has a sloping top tube.
I don't think I could stand over a taller frame more proportioned for my overall height with a level top tube.
To get the length I need, I ride with a 35cm set back seat post.
The set back seat post properly orients my knees to the pedals, but puts me further back over the rear wheel than some folks like.
Personally, I prefer more weight on the rear wheel and a lighter front wheel.

Actually, the rear wheel has 2/3rds of the weight normally. In your case, it's even more, probably close to 80%. How many rear tires to front tires utilization ratio do you have (how many rear tires do you replace in the tame it takes you to replace one front tire)? I assume you ride FG and that you skid - correct my assumption as necessary

No, I'm not as fat as you are!!! 61-62 kg to be precise:)
Yeah, I'm skinny. Very skinny.
I'm not the only one, though. IIRC good ole' Shants has exactly the same height/weight as me.

My vintage bikes are 49/51ish, and I'm 5ft 7in. I think they may be a little small, but I like the semi relaxed upright positions too. I can go for a stroll around the neighborhood without being stretched out over roadie geometry.
