HELLO EVERYONE

as you can see i'm as noob as you can get. I am actually wanting to get into the bicycle world and saw this awesome forum and i knew i had to join. I am a college student. who is looking for a commuter bike through some hills but would like to take the same bike and go through some suburban hills, where there is loose gravel and dirt roads. I am having a problem trying to find a bike under $300. most preferable under $200. so i can buy all the accessories with it. But I'm excited to be around!

ciao.

Hello obidobi, it sounds as if you are looking for either a hybrid/cross bike or straight mountain bike. Depending on your location and skills in fixing things, you may want to check out your local Craigslist/garage sales/thrift shops. It's possible to get a bike under $300, but it would be the basic X-mart bike--not necessarily the best choice for the long run, but sufficient to get started. If it turns out that you really enjoy cycling, you would probably upgrade rather quickly.

So, where are you located?

Welcome to BF!

If you are going to school, check in with the school and see if a bike repair type shop is run somewhere around the campus.
