Bicycle Mechanics - Should I still have my BB looked at?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

For the longest time, when I rode the bike I would get a clicking and creaking sound from the BB I think. Yesterday I did a really thorough cleaning of the bike. I scrubbed the chain and area around the BB. I lubed everything with dry grease since there's no forecasted rain. Today on my daily ride, I did not have the clicking or the creaking. Should I still have the BB checked to make sure it's ok? I probably have close to 500 or more miles on the bike. I'm also thinking of getting a tune up as well. I've had no shifters, brakes, and wheels on for about 1-2 months so it's probably time to have all that adjusted too.
I would think that at 500 miles, with the clicking problem
solved you don't need to have BB serviced.
I'd wait until winter and then do it. You might pick up a
good repair manual and give it a try yourself. Its not all
that difficult.
