My wife is going to Portland and was asking if you girls (and guys) have ideas to what to do over there. I told her about the great beer, nice folks I met, the japanese garden and the seafood. Apart from that I know nothing!!!!
BTW, could you recommend a bike shop where she can ck out some breezer bikes, specifically the uptown for girs??

Thanks!!!
PS. And regarding all those males willing to take a stab at her please know she is a big danish girl ( 6 foot Lean and Mean Viking gal) that can beat the crap out of you, so its up to you to take the risk!!!! LOL

Well, I don't think Portland will ever be the same after the Mean Viking Gal and the Slavic She-Marauder met up and rode bikes together today. :D

For you, pj, an invitation only stands if you did bring your wife and kid. Something tells me they keep you out of trouble - mostly. :p

I was recently up there... You can cover a lot of ground on foot. The downtown/pearl/riverfront area is pretty small in comparision to other cities. When we were there we rented a tandem bike from riverfront bicycles. Nice people there. great place for lunch st honore.

i'll let the portlanders do the real talking...

Just throwing random stuff out there, since not sure where she's staying and how much mobility she'll have, and what she likes:

If she likes boutique shopping and little cafes, there's an area north of the Pearl District on NW 23rd Str that's full of them. It can get quite crowded on a sunny day :]

Powell's bookstore is a nice place to visit too. ---- A walk on the waterfront --- Saturday market --- Hawethorne district ---- The Rose Garden is beautiful!

If she gets a chance to get out of the Portland area, there's lots! of hiking in the Gorge and around Mt Hood, and a trip to the coast is always... and experience.

Hope this helps a little

Actually, the big day was yesterday. She rented a bike from Citybikes. We had a blast. :)

Hi Donna, how was Pedalapooza?
Wonderful doesn't begin to describe it. :) If you ever considered an urban biking vacation in a place that is easy to get around on a bike, come for Pedalpalooza. I ran into 3 people at various events who did this very thing.

Have the dates been set for next year?
