Introductions - Introduction Time!!!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all. I am joining this forum for two reasons.
1. I want lots and lots of input before I just got to a store and buy a bike. Forum friends have better info than salesmen. :)
2. I want to join a community of people to learn about biking and then share my experiences of commuting and riding around town on here.

I am a college student in Austin and I'm tired of my car breaking down and paying 3 dollars a gallon for gas. Therefore I am planning on buying a bike very very soon.
I look forward to joining bike forums.
Blake

I'm sure we can help achieve both goals! Welcome to BikeForums. There are lots of Texas (and Austin area) members who can help you find a great shop and just the right bike. Feel free to stop by the Texas Regional forum and say hello there as well. If you have any forum specific questions feel free to PM any of the moderators (we have the blue stars)

Welcome! You live in a great city; very bike friendly... Stop by Foo sometime and say hi as well in the Watcha Doin' thread.

Find a helpful bike shop that is near enough so you can go back to it if you have problems. Then buy whatever brand bike they sell in your price range. You can buy a decent bike for the price of a set of tires and shocks for the car.

Welcome. Shake this place and and a Texan will fall out. Lots of Austin riders are members here. Like Cuda said, check the Texas regional forum for advice on shops, rides, etc.

Adios.

thanks for the help guys. I'll shake up the Texas regional forum. I also posted what I was looking for kind of under the commuter thread. If you feel like helping you can check it out there. The heading is something like, "Looking for a cool commuter bike..."
