Greetings,

Here's an idea I'm kicking around. I wanted to get an opinion from you guys about it.

Yesterday I ended up riding 30+ miles on the Fuji Ace bike I recently built for my step-daughter Steffanie to ride. I wasn't riding my K2 because I broke a spoke on the commute home on Monday and the wheels are at the shop being rebuilt with heavier gauge spokes.

After riding her Fuji I started thinking about doing pulling all of the components from my K2 off and building the Lemond Nevada City that I bought recently. I used the Sora components that came from the Lemond to build the Fuji.

When I finish stripping the K2 I'll be left with (on the K2) Frame, headset, fork, bottom bracket, Ritchey stem and bars and seat post.

Does anyone have any idea what that stuff would be worth (sold as a package, I don't want to break it apart any further)? The K2 is the 2003 Mach 2.0 model which sold for $900 and change when I bought it in January.

Does anyone think I'd be better off to just try and sell the whole K2 and then use the $$$ from that sale to buy the parts needed to build the Lemond?

I guess the "steel is real" nature of the Lemond is drawing me towards it pretty hard :)

I the bike sold for $900, you might get $2-300 for the frame. If you try and sell it whole you might get back half of what you spent. This is just my experience.

In my experience, whole bikes usually sell better as opposed to individual parts. Also you usually can get more for th e whole bike.
