Fifty Plus (50+) - Pleasant LBS Eperience

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today, near the end of my local bike trail, I had stopped, kick stand down contemplating whether to adjust the DER, or just ride home and do it there. A Jeep with a bike rack loaded on the back stopped, and the driver asked if I needed help. It was one of the owners of my LBS, Mud, Sweat, and Gears in Orange City, FL. He said he couldn't drive by one of his customers who might be having trouble. That is pretty good customer service,I'd say. One more reason I would rather not buy from the big box stores.

DER? Derriere?
I usually do that at home. Without assistance.

I will tell the owner of my LBS that I am going to put him on speed dial and give him a GPS link. If he wants to keep my business that is!
What RumbleJohn ISN'T telling us is that he is really only 17, female and well proportioned ... and that the lbs bloke had his teenage son with him :D

"Kickstands and bibshorts and mismatching bottles.
Oldsters in bike shoes who fall when they waddle.
Freds without helmets and posers with bling.
These are a few of my favorite things...."
(Doing his best Julie Andrews imitation.)

Rumblejohn hasn't been back since posting this.
However as he's only posted three times total, perhaps that doesn't mean anything.

I feel bad for the folks that post bad experiences with their LBS. With one exception, my experiences have been good with several, outstanding with my ATF LBS, All Star Bikes in Cary NC.

I suspect he had a "Scotty, beam me up (there's no intelligent life down here)" experience.
Or he might have read one of the roadie threads about the joy of puking or the benefits of self-catheterization. This can be a very weird place at times.
I certainly try to do my part.
