Some more pedal related questions:

Has anyone had any experience with the MKS GR9 Flat Platform Pedals?

How does one determine what size steel toe clips they need without fitting them first? (i am mailordering MKS clips and they come in small, medium, and large, I am a size 12 shoe)

I want leather straps, but really, $50 for straps?

Check out this page on Rivendell's online catalogue. I think it breaks down the shoe size to clip size.

i have the GR9s on my fixed, and i love them.
they are narrower than traditional pedals, which is safer when cornering, and are very comfortable, even with thin-soled tennis shoes.

I am size 11 and Large fits me fine. I would say the Large should do fine for size 12. I don't know how much bigger the XLarge is, so I can't really say for sure...

As far as straps, I use polyester. They're cheap, they don't stretch, they work fine.
