Bicycle Mechanics - dropped drivetrain side

my bike fell on the drivetrain side on the front lawn, and now my shifting isn't as smooth. About a 2 second delay when I shift, and it shifts to another cassette very roughly. I am assuming something happened to my rear derailler. What adjustment do i need to make so I get the shifting back to smooth again?

It might have just stretched the cable (more like pulled it through a bit) in which case all you'd need to do would be to put the shifter at the slackest setting, put the chain on the smallest cog, then loosen the cable nut, and pull the cable through taut. then make any minor adjustments with the little knurled tensioner on the derailer.

You may have also bent the derailer hanger tab inwards a bit in which case your bike will be reluctant to shift up to the largest cog. if that's the case, you'll need to bend that straight again. Some aluminum ones tend to snap, so go carefully. A large crescent wrench can do a good job. also many aluminum ones are replaceable, so if it's too badly bent, you can remove it, and replace it with a new one which will likely have to be ordered from a dealer of your brand of frame.

My guess is you knocked the DER in toward the stays.

Take the derailleur off and get a crescent wrench and bend it back outwards one smidge... Actually, you better not do that on an expensive bike, it worked for me though. Bur before that, look from the back of the bike and see if the hanger is actually bent.
