What's the hotel situation like... are SoCalers planning on reserving a block of rooms? I'm not expecting panty raids, but a pre- or post-ride gathering would be super duper.

Is this the week after the Grand Tour Lite, like last year? I rode the hilly five days after the double metric last year and I could feel it in my legs something nasty. :o It is a gorgeous century!

Joy, I will most likely get a room up there with double beds if you'd like to split. It would be way too tough to drive up there the mornig of!

How tough is the hilly? I recall you saying the route behind Cayucos and 46 was pretty tough?

My wife and I are doing the flat century. I would do the hilly one except that we did it last year and she doesn't wants he flat one this year. I'll also have done Everest Challenge the weekend before...

Great, I'll reserve a room today to get good options. I go for cheap, cheap (place to sleep kind of thing) - so, unless you can't stand Motel 6-ening, you'd better tell me now! ;) :D

I thought it was pretty easy, there was one extra climb and otherwise the routes were pretty similar. But I'm probably the wrong one to ask...

Mine is neglected. I don't think I feed my tarantula enough. They're carnivorous, you know.

I am on the fence :( Lara, myself and my husband went last year ) however its my daughters 13th birthday this year ...a teenager is born  ....She's having a party a few weeks before at the Mandalay Bay so perhaps she won't mind us missing in action on the actual day. Decisions Decisions.......  :o

edit: The rest of the posse is down last time I checked except Sonya, I think she may stay home and work but I have time to wear her down. Everyone has agreed to do the Big Sur 2 day camp and ride weekend up North.

The hilly route takes Old Creek Rd. From Hwy 1 to Hwy 46 is a little over 8 miles, then another 2.5 miles to the top of Hwy 46. When you leave Hwy 1 you start climbing about 2.5 miles to the top of Whale Rock Reservoir, an average of 3.5% with a ½ mile of 6.5%. Next is a mile of downhill before you start climbing again. The next part of the climb is a little over 1 ½ miles an averages 3.8%. Then comes the steep climb, 1.6 miles 9.2% with pitches to 13%, then a 1 ½ downhill with some rollers to Hwy 46. Hwy 46 to the top is 4 miles of 4%, then its 9 miles of fast downhill with 2 rollers to Hwy 1. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions contact me I ride Old Creek quit often.
