Fifty Plus (50+) - Virtual ride with JPPE on Monday June 11th.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

On this date- JPPE is doing yet another of his long rides. When He first announced it, I suggested that as many of us as possible ride along with him. Not on the actual ride as for most of us that would be stupid. And not on the playstation either.

So the idea is that at sometime on the 11th June- those of us that can manage it- will get on our bikes and ride our local routes to give him a bit of encouragement. If that ride can take in a hill then so much the better.

I know this is only a week away so just time for you to pick your hill and show your support.

Well, since you put it that way, fuggetaboutit. Seriously, I'm on for a 150 mile charity two-day ride on the 9th and 10th, but my feelings of solidarity are with you stap and jppe.

Jet 150 miles- and for charity- might let you off- providing you have the pie that jppe nevers takes on his ride.

Does riding a stationary count?

I can ride for the first 20 miles only....then I'm heading for the usual wings and beer after the river trail ride:)

No need for you to do the 100 miles-Jppe is doing that for all of us. Just go out and ride on the day- 5 miles will be enough. Now there are some of us that will not be able to do the ride so to give jppe support- if you can't ride- eat some pie.

I'll dedicate my 10-15 mile after work loop to jppe and his latest feat of excellence.

Sure why not. That's too far away to say where or how far I might go, but JPPE can have whatever I do do.

Hmm.

Jppe can get one of those helmet cams and record the ride.

He can also record it with his Garmin or whatever. We can all share his pain.

I'm planning a 42 miler that day, which will be my personal longest. When I mutter under my breath going up a hill I'll think of him.

One day I'd like to try the AoMM. I hope someone with some sense would talk me out of it, though.

It's a work day, so I can only dedicate my 15mi recovery ride to jppe, although Sundays are my long ride (50 or 66mi) days, and I will gladly virtualize my ride on 6/10 as well!

Since I'll be at work while he is riding, I'll just make a few extra visits to the water cooler that morning. Jppe will need plenty of hydration to avoid cramping that day.

I'll be doing my JPPE memorial ride on Emerald Isle that morning, beginning at first light. 20 miles up to Ft. Macon, and 20 miles back to the beer repository (beach house). No hills, but headwind in one direction for sure.

GO JPPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill's Mt. ain't nothin' , don't lose the draft till Rte. 80.

Monday is the designated day for riding the tandem with my wife this time of year, so we'll be virtual, but on that beast, we won't be tackling any hills that are too big.

Go jppe!

Had a B-B-Q last night at one of the neighbours so I hope the Hangover goes by tomorrow. Remembered a hill- On the road- That we use on an MTB ride. It is the steepest hill around here and just goes up to the Highest point on the Hills. It doesn't go anywhere.Just to the top of the hill. It is tough on the MTB with 22/32 gearing so I know it is steep. How I will get up it on the road bike- I will find out tomorrow.

Now if only I can find a SAG wagon to take me to the top so I can join fully with the sentiment of Colorado P

Don't forget- It's Tomorrow

Gotta work on Monday but we rode 100 miles in the last two days (40 yesterday and 60 today). Does this count if we say we did it for support?

Had a Hangover today- Too many glasses of the Vino last night so I only have myself to blame- Took a gentler ride than I had planned and feeling better now but I just hope Jppe Feels better than I do. And Unfortunately- it did take in a bit of road that went upwards.

P.S. Don't feel like any pie right now so DG can have mine- That is is if He hasn't had 3 slices already.

I rode 45 miles yesterday, and tackled 2 hills that have daunted me. Minor bumps compared to jppe's, but thigh burners still the same . . . ride on jppe!

Expectin' a thunder-boomer here soon. Hope it passes by 5pm so I can ride. And I hope the weather is better up on Mitchell!
